So I want to lose weight, I've been chubby my whole life, I'm going to university in the fall and I'm sick and tired of the way I look! I always have these plans to go on a diet and not eat junk but a few days later I always go off track and overeat and eat poorly again. This time I need to stay motivated any tips? Someone told me whenever I think about food to hit myself with an elastic on my wrist? Idk help!!

How to motivate yourself to lose weight.

1. Announce it to a bunch of people. Tell your family and friends

that you are going to lose N pounds a month. It helps, because,

others will expect you to change and will ask you about your

progress.

2. Make a bet. Either with another friend, who is trying to

lose weight, or with someone who does not. You will feel like

winning, and winning that (maybe not that large) sum of money.

3. Buy a cute outfit, the size you want to become, and try it

on every evening.

4. You will need to exercise to lose weight, so find an

activity that you really enjoy.

5. Combine your goals. Say, you joined a gym, or started using a

swimming pool, or joined a badminton

club - use the occasion to meet people of opposite gender and

socialize. This way, exercise will be more enjoyable.

6. Keep a track of your progress. Photograph yourself once a week,

weight yourself, put the data down and make it your weekly ritual.

Seeing progress really helps.

7. Put photos of athletic looking men or women on your fridge. Every

time you open the door, you will look at them, and want to be like

them, that will help with binging.

8. Find same-minded people. Join a club, or find a group of people

who are trying to lose weight, to mutually support each other.

It will boost your social life, too.

9. Often, people eat because they are bored. Evaluate your life and

try to find ways to make it more interesting (evening classes, going

outs, volunteering, a new hobby). This will keep you busy and keep

your mind off eating.

10. Spend more time with your dog or get one from a shelter. You will

do a good deed, plus will keep active and occupied, walking it out.

Meet other dog lovers in your area, to make it more sociable.

Very nice article! Finding motivation to lose weight can be rough. A lot of times the issue lies way beyond just will power. Most people think that heavy people just don't have enough will power to lose weight. If you need some more information, you can read more:

"...and I'm sick and tired of the way I look!" - If this is not enough motivation, do you expect the doctor telling you "unless you loose 25 pounds you may die in 6 months"?

Motivation leads a 'goal'; a goal always have a 'purpose', and a 'purpose' needs a 'designer' of the event. Now go your way BACKWARDS.

Ask the 'designer' for motivation, so you can attain 'perfection', which comes from Latin, meaning "made for" that particular purpose. You - and all of us - were 'designed' perfect.

Hope I helped.

food wise, you should indulge in vegetables when you get cravings. munching on carrots helps, just set up a plate of healthy food that looks really good so you at least enjoy it

while exercising, when it gets difficult for me when my muscles start to burn and stuff i start saying "get that body" even when im on the street for a run and i start aching i whisper "get that body" my friends make fun of me all the time but summers coming and im getting toned no matter what... its like i see a goal and im gonna get it, the only way to do it is to tune out everything else going on

when you slip up, remember why u started the diet in the first place... and ask yourself if those few minutes of eating unhealthy, or if skipping that days work out is gonna be worth the extra weeks added to burning the bad crap off. think about the body you want and how you wont get it by falling back on your old ways

be conscious of what your choosing and the effects of each choice

its a mental battle along with a physical one

im personally hard my myself, you gotta be your own trainer, yell at yourself, punish yourself. "we tell ourselves stories in order to live" -Joan Didion...your mind is gonna play tricks on you to get you to stop but you gotta be in control of it

hope i helped :) good luck!
