Question:
Can you be lactose intolerant to certain dairy products, but not others?

Well, a few years ago I lost the taste of liking milk. I went to drink some the other day, and I felt horribly sick. Ice cream does the same thing. Also; cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, yogurt, and some cheeses make me feel sick. I have not physically thrown up from them, but it makes my stomach hurt very badly and just feel sick. Though some cheeses like parmesan, mozzarella, nacho, sharp cheddar, and colby are perfectly fine in my system. I was just wondering if it is all in my head, or if you can really be lactose intolerant to only certain things.

Thanks

Most people who are lactose intolerant have the symptoms you describe after they drink milk or eat soft cheeses. Hard cheeses are fine though. This is because the cheese-making process actually changes lactose into something else, which you can stomach.

Other people can't stomach either lactose OR the stuff it changes into in hard cheese (sorry, I don't remember what that is called), so can't have any kind of cheese.

Not all dairy products have the same amount of lactose.

See the list below for lactose levels in different products.

maybe allergic or something but lactose intollerant would be to every dairy product not just one. So it is either in your head, an allergy like thing, or your lactose intollerant to everything..
