It really depends on how vigorous the exercise is and whether your diet stays constant.

You can probably burn between 300-400 kcal for 30 minutes of swimming. It take burning or decreasing 3500 kcal to lose 1 pound of weight (or 7700 kcal for 1 kg). If you keep your diet constant, you could lose around 3 pounds or 1.3 kgs in a month. Swimming can make you hungry though so if you're doing it just to lose weight, you should also monitor your calorie intake.

It's recommended that you shouldn't try to lose more that 2 pounds or 1 kg a week, so losing 10 kgs in a month could be unhealthy.

Swimming is a lot of fun and will help keep you in shape and fit. Try not to have unrealistic expectations though on how fast you'll see the results.

Swimming is a great activity. It tones your entire body while providing an excellent cardiovascular workout; it strengthens your heart muscle and improves delivery of oxygen to muscles.

Regular swimming builds endurance, muscle strength and cardio-vascular fitness. It can serve as a cross-training element to your regular workouts. Before a land workout, you can use the pool for a warm-up session.

Swimming does burn calories at a rate of about 3 calories a mile per pound of bodyweight. If you weigh 150 lbs. and it takes you 30 minutes to swim one mile (1,760 yards or 1,600 meters), then you will be using about 900 calories in one hour. However, many swimmers do not swim that quickly, and many cannot swim for that distance or duration.

Swimming is also a relaxing activity.

Try to swim at least three swims a week. Swimmers seem to improve faster and easier when they swim more frequently as opposed to only doing a few longer workouts each week.

Maintain the best possible technique at all speeds during a workout.

Incorporate drills to help you stay tuned up, increase your speed and develop a better technique.

One or two times a week increase the intensity of your work out. Make sure you don't overexert yourself. If you feel too fatigued, take a rest.

Take it easy -Each workout does not need to be an intense one. Remember to have fun. When you stop enjoying yourself, practice becomes more difficult.

Yes of course! Swimming is the best sport ever, every other sport makes only few parts of your body to move and in swimming all the body is active! You will reduce weight a lot if you swim daily, weekly, it doesn't matter, but just carefully and time by time, I mean when you feel tired you can rest and continue when you feel that you are ready for a long lap!

Good luck and take care!

There is no easy answer to your question because there are too many variables. Are you a good swimmer? Poor swimmers use a lot more energy than good swimmers, who are very efficient in the water. What stroke will you swim? Freestyle? easiest stroke of all. Butterfly? hardest stroke of all.

However -- if you swim for half an hour a day, you will improve your fitness level, improve your condition, and unless you gorf out at the snack bar that seems to be a feature at most pools these days, you will lose weight slowly, which is the best way to do it. Weight you lose slowly stays off. Weight you shed quickly always comes back and usually brings a few extra pounds with it.

Good luck!

Any exercise that you do along with the proper nutrition will always help you to loose extra weight and make you look not only younger but also will help you be in better shape and keep you healthy.

In my opinion, if you'll keep up the regular swimming everyday for 30 minutes and have a healthy lifestyle and nutrition in your days, you'll loose more than 10kgs (it's about 5lbs) per month. You might end loosing on average of 15-25kgs (or, 30-45lbs) during that period of time. You might notice changes in you like: feeling like you have more energy and healthier, you skin will be less "puffy" and your body as the whole will be more toned and a lot stronger than it was before. Swimming (among couple of other exercises) lets you tone your whole body from top to bottom with the "minimal" effort.

Keep up the great work! You're doing great :)

yes Swimming is good exercise (that's obvious). Swimming is a lifetime sport that benefits the body and the whole person! But what is it that makes swimming good, specifically? That depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

Swimming is a healthy activity that can be continued for a lifetime - and the health benefits swimming offers for a lifetime are worth the effort it takes to get to the pool.

Why do you swim? For the health benefits to your heart and lungs? For the chance to be with some of your friends at the pool? Because, in your case, running everyday hurts? Because you like the feeling of floating and sliding through the water? Or is it something else? If you are looking for a break from the heat of the summer, then a dip in the water is exactly what you need; swimming is a way for you to cool off.

Swimming Conditioning

It fills a wonderful recreational need for individuals and families, from beach and pool fun to water parks.

Maybe you are a runner, training on a regular basis, and want to find an activity that keeps your heart rate up but takes some of the impact stress off of your body. Perhaps you have been doing some other form of land exercise, and now an injury prevents you from putting weight on a knee or ankle. Swimming can help you. Kicking workouts, water aerobics, pool running, or a regular swimming workout can all give you a great exercise session without the weight of your body pounding you with each move.

Regular swimming builds endurance, muscle strength and cardio-vascular fitness. It can serve as a cross-training element to your regular workouts. Before a land workout, you can use the pool for a warm-up session. Swimming with increasing effort to gradually increase your heart rate and stimulate your muscle activity is easily accomplished in the water. After a land workout, swimming a few laps can help you cool-down, move blood through your muscles to help them recover, and help you relax as you glide through the water.

Spending time in a group workout, whether water aerobics or a master's swim practice, is a great social outlet. Exchanging stories, challenging each other, and sharing in the hard work make swimming with others a rewarding experience.

There are other psychological benefit to swimming, if you allow it to occur. Relax and swim with a very low effort. Let your mind wander, focusing on nothing but the rhythm of your stroke. This form of meditation can help you gain a feeling of well-being, leaving your water session refreshed and ready to go on with the rest of your day. Many swimmers find an in-direct benefit form swimming. They develop life skills such as sportsmanship, time-management, self-discipline, goal-setting, and an increased sense of self-worth through their participation in the sport. Swimmers seem to do better in school, in general terms, than non-swimmers as a group.

I was in the best shape of my life the summer I spent working nights, but spent my afternoons swimming for 2 hours a day.

It is easy on your body, low to no impact. The cool water pulls heat from your body so your body burns more fuel to keep up it's temp. The water cleans your pores and also pulls oil from your body.

So the more time you can spend moving in and out of water the more you will lose.

Most people wanting to know how to lose weight fast often forget the 'safe' part. They are so eager to lose that they are willing to compromise their health. The truth is, anybody can lose weight as long as they identify the strategies that work for them. Most people who fail at losing weight do so because they try to make themselves do things they do not want to do. Here are three strategies they may work for you. Contact me and I'll send you 50 more strategies that help others lose weight everyday.

Eat Smaller Portions

Knowing how to lose weight is a no-brainer. Here's the first thing you should do. Americans and perhaps others around the world as well, have gotten used to larger food portions. Who knows where this started? When you eat out at a restaurant, remind your self that not only do you not need to eat the whole thing, but you shouldn't. One nice trick you can use is to tell the waiter to box up half of the meal before she/he brings it out to you. This way, you will never feel the need to eat it right then. Eat the other half for lunch the next day.

No secret.

For weight loss exercise such as swimming, running, cycling and even walking can help but dieting can often help a lot more than exercise.

A very good and healthy weight loss diet is the DASH diet that can also help to reduce high cholesterol and high BP.

The DASH diet includes a lot of fruit and vegetables combined with whole grains and cereals plus low fat dairy products such as low fat cheese, milk and yogurt as well as lean meats.

Good serials are Weetbix, oatmeal, oatbran, wheat bran and wheat germ.

There are three main ways to lose weight quickly.

1) Use only water as liquid and eliminate all other liquid drinks from your diet. You must drink as much water as possible every day. You must drink about half of your weight. If you have weight of 200 pounds then you must drink about 100 oz of water.

2) The interval between the eating is very important. If you eat once, then you must eat next after 4 hours. You must take breakfast regularly. In the night eat your food three hours before going to bed.

3) Walking is very good. You must walk as much as you can. Walk everywhere you can. Use of elevators and escalators must be reduced and instead of these you must climb stairs more often.

These are some of the fastest ways to lose weight. By just following the simple steps, you can lose your weight very quickly. You must consult your doctor if want to change your diet or exercise routine.

Here are some changes that you can incorporate into your life now that will take some weight off, and more importantly keep it off.

Drink more water

Don't drink any soda, even diet soda has a lot of sodium [salt] which will keep water in your body.

Eat more fruits and veggies, less processed food and fatty meat.

Cut out the junk food. Learn more here:

I think you should try a different exercise...

There's this swimming teacher..she's EXTREMELY fat..I'm sorry but she is..

Swimming helps you breathe better if you have like asthma or something.

It really doesn't reduce the fat in your hips..

cardio exercise and eating breakfast fruits, whole grain cereals and egg-white are great options help boost metabolism which help lose weight faster & burn more calories so eat egg in every morning omelet or boiled etc..to get protein which important for your body for losing weight stay way from junk food, fries

Do 30 minutes of cardio training [dancing, jogging, aerobics, yoga , running, bicycle, swimming, kick boxing ... ] and 30 minutes of strength train [weights, arms, setup, crunches for abs, legs workout and stretches]workout 3-6 times on week. 30min or 1-2 hours
