You should eat a little of both, just a little because both are very rich foods, but both provide Minerals that aren't found in a lot of other foods.
Modern food lacks a lot of minerals, which is why 'aches, and pains' are up so much, that's purely down to 'soft foods'(no minerals), leading to soft-bodies.

Neither are healthy.. they are both complex carbohydrates.
If you HAD to choose, life or death, the rice would be because it isn't fried in grease (depending), French fries obviously are. But again, the rice is white, not brown, so it still isn't the healthiest.
