Question:
Should I get height surgery?

I've always been insecure about my height. I hate it. I'm a 4'10 female and I'm 18 and I know I will not grow anymore. I hate my height! I wish I was 5'0 at least. I would always get bullied on because I wasn't average height. I really hate my height, I'm willingly to go through pain just to fix it, so do you think this is worth it? Should I do it or not?

Surgeons break the leg bone in two and implant a state-of-the-art telescopic rod into the middle of the broken bones which then pulls the bone apart very slowly, about one millimeter a day.

New bone grows around it and tissues like the muscle, the nerves, the arteries, and the skin, regenerate as well.

At about $85,000, the procedure is expensive and the process lengthy. It takes at least three months to complete it and it requires demanding and excruciating physical therapy.

[The man] is still in recovery and he does not want to go public even though this is his second surgery. "I am still lengthening right now and there could be further complications and I don't want to talk about it successfully until it's been successful."

But he is candid about his leg lengthening journey on www.makemetaller.org, an online forum for people interested in the procedure.

"I am not telling anyone they should do this surgery, but I am laying out my experiences and the risks that I have taken and the successes that I have had and let people make their own decision," he said.

No way. I used to think that I would get surgery to correct the things I didn't like about myself too, but then one day I realized that even if I did fix those flaws, it wouldn't change how I feel about myself, it would only change how people looked at me, and even then, it probably wouldn't make them like me any more or less. I would just look different. So love yourself for how you look, who cares if you're a little short? That can be really sweet on girls, lots of guys like that kind of feature! Also, Haley Williams is only 5'2, so not that much taller than you, and she's one of the most awe-inspiring, powerful people in the world, at least in my opinion. If you are happy and confident, your height can't hold you back. Spend the money you would have spent on the surgery on some cute clothes and music or something! :)

I think you should do what you feel is right for yourself. I never knew of height surgery so if you do consider it, at least look at the down sides or risks of it and then decide to yourself if they are worth it.

I think lots of people would find your height cute, although that could feel demeaning at least you know they're thinking positively about it.

I assume you were bullied at school? I can tell you most people will be an idiot in those years and will bully on anything that might be noticeable. People do mature, and with that, less people will give a **** about your height.

I don't think you should do it. Height has nothing to do with the kind of person you are and I'm sure that you're an attractive girl. My girlfriend is 4'11" and she's going to be 18 in July. I find it adorable and I've always had a thing for short girls. I say keep the height and **** what people say. you're beautiful

"Leg lengthening surgery" is very complex and very dangerous and if anything goes wrong you can end up a cripple.

The recuperating time can apparently be from 3-6 months and during this time you are severely handicapped.

Apparently you can only gain about 2 or 3 extra height inches if the surgery is successful.

Of course not! What a gift. Any one who is so shallow as to not want to be around you, be with you because of your height will be easy to identify and shove aside. As you get older you will come to understand that people care less and less (including yourself) about such trivial things. Focus on cultivating meaningful relationships with people. I think if you had a busy interesting life, you wouldn't be concerned with something you have no control over that no one else really cares about.

So the issue really is that you have low self esteem. A remedy for me was and is to educate myself on fixing the worlds problems. I am male. When I was 18 I had a face full of acne, was already starting to noticeably go bald! I have to wear thick glasses... had braces and a learning disablility (ADD).

Now at 34, I have no acne, contacts, my oily face that gave me acne is the same oily face that keeps me looking 25. My teeth are straight from the braces and I'm fine... Of course the people I surround myself with don't care about such things anyway we are more interested in creating love and joy and spreading it through the world. When you find yourself you will find joy and joy will kill off all of your petty misgivings in seconds flat.

You'll be fine. Besides, guys dig short chicks...

lol in my opinion no, because being small is really cute i wish i was like that im 5'2 and tbh i wish i was smaller.. but also if you do want to be taller then go for it! i wouldn't know a lot since im 14 and i am in 8th grade XD

but live your life the way you want im just saying smaller girls usually look younger and cuter and prettier not saying tall girls are uglier or anything but yeah you should think about the good things about being small and also the bad things. you should think about is on your own instead of asking the internet :3 idk just my opinion
