Question:
What is a good, healthy bedtime for an 18 year old, and how many hours of sleep do 18 year olds need (HEALTH related)?

So I am 18 years old and have really terrible sleep problems, and since I am actually up in the morning today (HALLELUJAH) I thought today would be a good day to start getting back on track. I don t work at the moment, so I don t have to bend around or anything. So what is the actual scientifically proven given number of hours that is beneficial for an 18 year old female? And what would be a good bedtime to give myself? And what time should I set my alarm to wake me up?

Work and sleep are related as you have recognised. The other thing that helps is a small time before you go to bed just start winding down - turning things off, maybe rest for a little bit. Practising restfulness is just as important as getting sleep.A healthy bedtime would maybe be 10 ocklock. an 8 hour sleep is the standard time but you have to remember that every individual is different and you must learn about your own sleeping patterns.

Natural sleep is 6 to 10 hours, about 3 or 4 hours at a time.

Modern health nuts still go with the 8 hour nonsense from an ancient "Sleep Study" in the 1920-1930s.

Many medical studies from that era were flawed.

Bedtimes will depend on the days schedule, there is No Fixed time.

Allow for one hour after rising before doing any work or study tasks.

Allow for one hour before bedding to "wind down" by reading a dull book or watching a boring TV/Movie.

Avoid Eating any large meals during the 3 hours before bed.

8 hours, and the bedtime would depend on your daily schedule, stop using facebook or social media or anything that keeps you up at night, I'm also 18 but I'm a guy and I also used to struggle with this, get off the computer at night and so some cardio during the day that way your body will get tired and it will be easier to sleep

I would say you should go to bed anywhere between 9 and 10 PM and wake up anywhere between 6 and 7 AM. This way you get a full 8 hours of sleep :)

Asleep at 11 awake at, 7. That's my sleep schedule when I have school. But you may not have school and if not I recomend 9:30 asleep, awake at 8:30, then when you wake up go for jog, this will help you keep fit and will make you more tired at night, so then you can get to sleep easier.

I would visit your doctor and make sure there is no medical reason for your really terrible sleep problems. They may refer you to a sleep specialist for a sleep study for further testing and treatment.
