chromium is a chemical element....

Trivalent chromium (Cr(III), or Cr3+) is required in trace amounts for sugar metabolism in humans (Glucose Tolerance Factor) and its deficiency may cause a disease called chromium deficiency. In contrast, hexavalent chromium is very toxic and mutagenic.

in the United States the dietary guidelines for daily chromium uptake were lowered from 50-200 µg for an adult to 35 µg (adult male) and to 25 µg (adult female).

Chromium is a trace mineral that occures naturally in foods like yeast, mushrooms, prunes and broccoli. Research suggests that it helps the body to metabolize fat and carbohydrates, and to transport blood sugar into body cells where it's needed.

chromium polynicotinate Which is listed as an ingredient in "Fuze", is one of several molecules that contain chromium. chromium picolinate is another form commonly used as a food supplement.

Due to it's role in metabolism, it has become popular in weight loss supplements, though it hasn't been proven that it actually has that effect.

If you decide you want to use this or any supplement, Don't waste your money on products that list it as an ingredient but don't tell you how much is in there. It's probably just a trace amount for advertising purposes. Supplements in genaral (including chromium) can be toxic in high doses. So if products like this contained enough of it to have any effect, they'd be running the risk of overdosing thirsty people who drank 2 or 3 bottles on a hot day...

It's an element (symbol Cr). It's a steel-grey, odourless, tasteless metal. Chromium Polynicotinate is what's in fuze and it is derived from chromium. It's in there because it may provide benefits including weight loss, lowered serum cholesterol and glucose, burned fat, and build muscle.

Chromium Picolinate is involved in the metabolism of glucose and is vital in the breakdown of cholesterol, fats, and proteins; maintains stable blood sugar levels through proper insulin utilization; keeping blood sugar levels normal is important because high levels of either can cause damaging effects on the cells lining the arteries, which can cause circulation problems that may lead to clogged arteries; will reduce blood sugar and insulin levels in people with full blown type 2 diabetes; the "Picolinate" form is easily absorbed in the body's cells; helps prevent sugar cravings and sudden drops in energy; promotes a healthy circulatory system; has been used as a treatment for migraine headaches, psoriasis and acne; can prevent anxiety and fatigue; is used extensively by athletes and dieters because it promotes fat loss and increases lean muscle tissue.

With the newer types of insulin these days, diabetic diets aren't necessarily as restrictive as they used to be. Read here https://tr.im/W89qR

As with any medicine or diet change, you should discuss it with your doctor. Fruits, both fresh and dried, have a natural sugar in them that will raise blood sugar levels, so be careful about eating too much. Not sure about the nuts. Moderation is always the key. I've been diabetic for 18 years and just recently changed insulin types. I love it because it gives me more freedom in when and what I eat.
