I have depression as i done a online test at netdoctor.co.uk and my result shows up moderate to sever depression i dont think its severe but i do believe its moderate but i haven't seen the doctor because i dont want to ruin my life with medicines. depression can be beaten the natural way and thats what i want to do.

Why im here? well that because i need help advice to transform my life which at times doesnt seem worth living at my lowest points. I need to change my diet i need to exercise and get healthy.

My typical day involves me waking up in the morning no breakfast going on pc and sitting on it all day long. I snack alot of junk food as they make me feel happy almost like i seek refuge in bad food. I have gained weight and everyone says ive gone fat im actually about 1 stone and a half over weight.

What should i be eating throughout my day thats healthy cud someone please give me a plan that i can follow.

Why don't you try the magnetic diet, a regimen of diet, exercise, yoga and chanting.

Check out http://www.magnetic-diet.com/six-pack-ab...

Our friends highly recommended this diet for mental issues.

Hi Mack.

The first thing you need to do is not take the advice of an online anything. You need to see a doctor and get a definitive diagnosis. This could be from a treatable medical condition. Or any number of treatable causes. If you are suffering from depression only your doctor can put you in touch with some real professional help. A psychologist can also help you with a life plan. You have no goals and no plan for future personal growth. Nothing in life gets done without a plan of attack. Eating better and exercising will often lift spirits. It's part of the setting goals strategy. So 1200 calories a day and 30 minutes of cardio work 6-7 days a week. Walking, jogging, whatever gets your heart pumping. Good luck!

If you know there is a reason for your depression, maybe recent events or something that is on your mind and you cant stop thinking about it then you need to speak with some one about it. If not a family member or a friend, speak with your GP they are there to help and will point you in the right direction. If your depression is just simply because of your lifestyle, you obviously need to change your ways. Life is for living hun! Why dont you join a gym and set yourself a goal and work at it until you have achieve your goal, maybe building up the distance you can run, doing exercise will make you feel better in yourself and plus you will have the added bonus of achiving your set goal. I would suggest drinking lots of water throughout the day, it will make you feel more alert and less tired. Get out of your house more and off your computer, natural daylight makes you feel better and also fresh air (if that still exists). When it comes to your diet just eat healthy, you obviously know what is bad for you and what is good for you just mix the good with the bad because if you deny yourself food you wont stick to your diet long and then your hard work will be out the window! Failing all the text book stuff i think you should go out with your mates, chat a few ladies up and build up your confidence and just have a laugh!

Doing some online test doesn't necessarily mean you are depressed.

Get a second opinion by seeing your GP.

You badly need something to give some structure to your life. Anything to get you out of bed at a reasonable hour of the morning and out of the house.

Aren't you able to work?

If so then get yourself a job. If you can't then look for some voluntary work.

Don't you have any friends?

If so, ask them what they think about your state of mind, etc.

Anyone who just stays in all the time going online, eating junk food, etc and avoids real contact with people certainly has a problem.

Get some help as soon as you can - even if it's only by talking to friends or phoning/emailing the Samaritans.

why not get a job - I think I would be depressed all day if I sat around and did nothing. The extra money will put a smile on your face as will the satisfaction of doing something. If you cant get paid work then volunteer work will give the same satisfaction as you are helping others. You seem to know what you need to do so take each day as it comes and see a dietician as that might help. at least you want to do something about it and admit you have a problem - thats a good sign. Good luck.

1-Go to www.sparkpeople.com

2-Plan your diet.

3-Choose your meals.

4-Choose what kind of excercise you would like to do and for how long.

5-Try taking panadol night an hour before you want 2 sleep if your still cant sleep stay up all night till the next morning and make sure you sleep early the next night.

playing sports can help release stress and depression, try to keep yourself busy, eating healthy also helps, treat your self with icecream everyday, dont go on a strict diet just take it easy, nice and slow, hope you get better, one more thing try not to stay on the computer so long sitting and eating all day makes u really lazy and its a bad habbit, good luck

Hi

What you need to remember is that the more you do the more your body will want to do and vice versa if all your body is used to doing is sitting on the computer all day it will end up being hard work and you will feel tired.

Set yourself a challenge small steps tell yourself you are not allowed to go on the computer until you have walked for 10 minutes, and stick to it, next week try 20 mins, you will find the increased serotonin levels from the exercise will start to make you feel happier and the depression will start to lift. but stick at it remeber your will power is the only thing standing between you and a happy life CHALLENGE IT.....

Well I see one thing that you can change that can help. You need to eat breakfast my friend, you have low blood sugar and that helps you sink low. The junk food is a huge no no..you may actually just be sluggish from you inactivity and food intake. Try a different way of eating and see what happens after 2 weeks. Hey it can't hurt right. Try eating a healthy breakfast..like cereal with fruit a good lunch and cut out junk food as much as you can..just for 2 weeks and see how you feel. Trust me..the food you eat can effect you like this.

You also should get out and at least walk...the endorphins can help your brain activity and get you going...

Please..at least try it.

Hiya..

Firstly you need to eat breakfast as that sets your metabolism going for the rest of the day..whether it be toast or cereal you need to eat something.

Try a low fat diet..cut out the crisps and chocolate and replace it with fruit etc..most of it is common sence really..sorry if that sounds patronising..

It also might be worth going to see your GP..they will advise you better with how you are feeling and also weight loss.

Instead of logging on and sitting at your pc all day..go and see your friends..join a gym...find things to get you off the pc all day..I know it's easier said than done..I've been there too and you can do it..just go one day at a time.

Hope that helps :o)

Hello.

You can get plenty of free diet and exercise plans online.

But one of the biggest things you will also need is a change of attitude and a better outlook on life. The fact that you want to change will be a big help.

On top of dieting and exercising, take up a hobby away from home (so you won't find yourself back in front of the computer all day and will help you get away from your computer dependancy).

you have friends that sound like they are looking out for you. Rely on them to help you out a bit. Maybe see if one of them will take up a hobby or exercise with you to keep you motivated.

Good luck! :)

well you should start small with breakfast. most people say have a huge breakfast but if you go from having no breakfast at all to a huge one you might not like it. so start small. try eating healthier snacks. i wish i had the choice of staying home all day on the computer. since you have that much free time, try going for a walk/run before you even think about going online. getting outside really helps you feel better.

Do something different. Start walking! Try to walk 20 minutes a day at first and build up to an hour. You will be amazed at how much better you will feel just by getting some exercise. Also, drink lots of water.

well first off if you dont want the medication wich i recommend because iam on them and now can injoy the world and not think about just being inside in a dark space sleeping and not eatting. the best thing too do that i recommend is doing something you injoy dancing, arobics, running, basketball, football, soccer, building, somethign that you injoy too get your mind off the bad things in life. then start eatting fruits or veg. for a snack or something high in fiber or vitamins. try going to counceling too talk things through and learn some techniques that you can use too stay calm and open. best of luck hope i helped you.

You are not depressed. You need to go out and spend time with your friends. What you need to do is detox from all the junk food you have been eating. Who is buying this junk food? Eat fresh fruits and vegetables all day long and only drink water, not soda. Get up and take a walk. Join a gym. That way you can make friends. Going to school is another way to make friends. Just get up and stop eating junk. Use the same energy you used for researching depression to research diet and exercise.

Your trying to hard just unwind a little then set yourself a task for one day in the week. Continue until it becomes a routine then select a second task for a second day of the week and continue as for the first day. Repeat this until all days of the week are tasked. A task does not have to be anything of significant just a stroll, go swimming, study music. I’ve been there I know what it’s like! Take care!

your depression will spiral down and get worse as long as you continue with your current behaviors. You need to get out of the house, away from the computer and get active. You need to give up the "fatty cake" stuff and eat more fruits and raw vegtables. As for your mental health, there are many things that can help you besides medications, you can start with the following website.

Its funny that you dont really tell us anything about your life with other people, other than youre all alone and depressed and cant sleep. But what is your life all about. Did you ever have any purpose in life? Did you ever strive to be something in life? Did you ever have parents who wanted you to be something, other than "a lazy bum" (as they say in the USA). I think this is the key to getting better, since this is what is missing.

I have also suffered from severe depression in the past, and a very smart doctor got me out of it by suggesting voluntary work.

It means you have to get out of bed & makes you feel needed and rebuilds your self-esteem & stops you sitting at the PC all day.

Consider it. Best of luck in any event.
