I would suggest visiting tlc.com/thin and reading up on Paul McKenna's weight loss method. It's extremely straight forward, simple, rewarding, and it works.
No restricting diets or starvation techniques, it centers around four basic rules.
1. Eat when you are hungry.
2. Eat what you want, not what you think you should have.
3. Eat conciously and taste your food!
4. Stop eating when you are full.
Of course, his website goes into much greater detail and really is the most simple, effective way to lose weight that I can think of. Also, his site has a forum so if you'd like to get some of your questions answered, it's a great place to start.
