I'm thinking of buying a pedal exerciser so I can keep continuing my workouts throughout the day even while I do work or watch tv. I ride my bike three times a week and do other cardio exercises during the day. However, I don't like having to do my work(school/projects) without some form of little exercise.
My question is, do pedal exercisers really work at maintaining good cardio workout and burning calories?

Yes I think they can work, but I see you do road miles,
what can be better than that, The most important thing for bike riding is comportable clothing re shammy leather shorts and head gear, then of course make sure you have a light weight
bike correctly adjusted to your size.

Oh yea, some of the best Cardio workout I've ever had have been on exercise bikes. Depending on how much you have to spend, you can get a good all mechanical bike with manual adjustable resistance for a couple of hundred, or a rack for your existing bike for less. On the high end are the electronic adjustable bikes which start at about 400 on line. If your going to go this rout, then get a FULL Recumbent bike,, they are the best

If I understand you correctly, you aren't talking about an exercise bike are you? It is a floor thingy that has a pedeler but you just move your feet? There isn't much resistance on it?
My mom had one of these and she was a COPD patient, with what became respiratory failure and she passed away recently. She used it for a strength and stamina builder to increase her basic mobility but she was in poor health. This is leading me to believe that this particular piece of gear is "watered down" for someone who can't do a whole lot.
I would consider this more medical therapy equipment than an actual piece of exercise gear for a healthy person. You may need this if you have mobility issues, or some other health problem, but if you are in good health, you need something more intense than this.

they do if you use them as directed. Do 2 or 3 20 minute workouts per day for a good cardio workout.
