Hi,

1) Make water your favorite drink. A person must have a minimum of 8 glasses of water in a day. Avoid taking soft drinks or carbonated beverages; moreover replace them with water. Water helps in reducing weight in the most effective manner.

2) Don't stuff yourself with food in a single sitting; instead have 5 to 6 small meals or snacks in a day. Eating several small meals helps the body to release less insulin, which keeps blood sugar steady and helps to control hunger.

3) MOST IMPORTANT.....Keep small plates for serving food because a study shows that the less food put in front of us, the less food we'll eat. So downsize your food plates and coffee mugs, and say goodbye to those extra calories.

4) Eat more vegetables during meals as water-rich foods like zucchini, tomatoes, and cucumbers reduce your overall calorie consumption. Some other water-rich foods include soups and salads; they are good source of nutrition.

5) Prefer eating cereal for breakfast five days a week. Following this, you will consume more fiber and calcium, and less fat than those who eat other breakfast foods.

6) Eat equal portions of vegetables and grains at dinner. A cup of cooked rice or pasta has about 200 calories, while a cup of cooked veggies has just 50 calories. This will help to avoid a grain calorie overload, and high-fiber veggies will help satisfying your hunger.

ALSO......

Foods Included in Indian Diet Chart:

A) Cereals:

Rice, Millet, Wheat based breads (such as Roti)

B) Pulses:

Chickpeas, Bengal Gram, Black Gram, Vetch, Lentils, Mung Bean, Fermented Sprouts

C) Vegetables:

Eggplant, Cucumber, Chilies, Peas, Carrot, Squash, Green Leafy Vegetables, Potatoes,

Tomatoes, Onions

D) Fruit:

Apricot, Orange, Apple, Papaya, Melons, Plums, Guava, Mango, Coconut (especially in South

Indian cooking)

INFACT......Firstly you should be aware of how much your daily calories intake should be and this can be known by your BMI. Also, don't skip any of your meals.skiping meals don't help in any way. Also u should perform daily exercises.

HERE is Equation for calculating calorie needs.............

Men: BMR = 66 + (13.7 x W) + (5 x H) - (6.8 x Age) = Daily calories required

Women: BMR = 665 + (9.6 x W) + (1.8 x H) - (4.7 x Age) = Daily calories needs

Where:

W = weight in Kgs

H = Height in cms

Age = Years

It is a common custom in Indian cuisine to drink water with meals. This is so that the wonderfully seasoned dishes remain the focal point and can be truly enjoyed. Water also aids weight loss, for those of us counting calories.

Tea, especially a spiced tea called Masala, is commonly served throughout India. There are many different variations but most Westerners are somewhat familiar with one of these, namely Chai Masala. Yet, it is not the same as a Starbucks chai latte which has a lot more milk and sugar, and hence a lot more calories.

There is a simple formula that you can use to work out how many calories you should eat to maintain your weight.

In a regards to indian food, my mum is on this slimming world diet, where sometimes she can get as much meat as she wants, and others were she can eat as much pulses, rice and pasta she can, plus she can eat veg all day long!

she commonly uses a madhur jeffery book, and then adapts it, so doesnt use oil, but it will teach u handy tips on how to make them much less fattening. Alternatively just cook indian rather than order it in, and use common sense to substitute for healthier options, so 0% fat yoghurt in stead of full fat. Its a much healthier way of living and a very small compromise, my mum makes some amazing dishes!!!!

The key to losing weight no matter what you eat is to watch your calories & exercise, take smaller portion sizes sometimes to do this you can ask for a smaller plate, there are a lot of great choices in Indian food but it all depends on how the person cooks it, tr replacing oil/butter with olive oil. With a lot of Indian recipes if you would like to reduce the fat content, is easy to convert them to low fat recipes by cutting down by half or more the amount of dairy products, oil, or nuts required. The other way to convert them to low fat is by removing the dairy products and reducing the oil. Another option is sauteing onions or vegetables in water instead of oil. Watch your calories & exercise!
