I woke up this morning and when I looked in the mirror I noticed something different. Looks like I’ve managed to put on some weight. The scale showed 10 extra pounds. I don`t know how this happened and how come I didn`t notice before! Actually, I think I know how it happened: I work a lot, too much, and I eat mostly junk-food. Now what? I never had weight problems before. Should I start a particular diet? Is there any place online where I can find free diet information or support? Thanks a lot.

You do need to start a healthy diet. First of all, cut down on snacks, avoid fast-food, have regular meals, and drink a lot of water. You don`t need to start a particular diet, you can create your own. The key is to make sure you don’t eat more calories than you burn. I use the diet and fitness planner at http://www.projectweightloss.com . You can plan your meals and a fitness program there. This way, you will know how many calories you ate and how many you burned. All you need to do is to pay attention to what you eat so you burn more cals you eat.

You don't need to Diet....You just need to watch what you put in your mouth. Instead of reaching for the junk food, try reaching for something better. Even if you have to eat fast food because you're on the run and may not have much time to cook, there are plenty of healthy options for you. It's really a matter of choice. You have to make healthier choices for yourself, and no diet in the world will help you if you don't change your habits because as soon as you stray or go off the diet, the weight will come back if you haven't made any lifestyle changes.

Try other things like parking farther away so you get in a few extra steps, take stairs instead of elevators, etc. All these little tricks help.....

You will be fine.... Stop now with the junk and commit to changing your behavior! I wish you luck!

no offense, but you shouldn't take any of those "detox" things no matter how much weight you can lose, i dont believe they are too healthy especially if you become too dependent on them. dont take actual "diets". just eat healthy, eat only when you are hungry. the more exercise you do the better. my dad exercises so much, he has been running everyday for five years, so when he eats junk food, the extra calories burn off way quicker. Ironically, in that sense, the more exercise you do, the less you have to worry about not eating certain foods.

you should exercise for an hour everyday in some way. Get a treadmill and listen to your ipod. Walking outside with your Ipod might be a better idea. don't think of exercise as something you HAVE to do, but as something fun. Take dancing lessons, or play tennis or some sport with your friends. Do one of those things that don't make you too tired, because you are having fun doing them.

As for work, that is the problem with most people. You should wake up earlier to exercise. And for food, have healthier foods. Take up some cooking, you can create your own healthy but delicious food, like a fruit smoothie or something.

I know you never had weight problems before, and its only 10 pounds, but if you dont start exercising then it can be unhealthy especially since you work too much and eat junk food.

good luck :D

I think it would be a drastic measure, to go on an all out diet just for 10 lbs.

It's enough that you've noticed a difference in the mirror in my opinion. It's a good sign that you want to change your diet to a healthier one (as opposed to the junk food that you're eating at the moment).

There are loads of places on the web that you can get diet information from if you did want more information on a balanced diet.

A moderate healthy diet isn't rocket science though. You should be drinking plenty of water, eating 6 small, regular meals a day and you should try and get enough fruit and veg.

Try not to eat red meat more than once or twice a week, and make sure that you have enough nutrients and etc. in your diet.

It's best to get it fresh into your diet.

I know that on http://www.realage.com they do a questionnaire that asks a variety of questions relating to your lifestyle and your diet. It gives you a 'real age', and then it gives you a print off that you can work on.

However, I think that it would be irresponsible of me just to say that it's down to diet. You would dramatically increase your quality of life, and your health, if you made time out of your busy work schedule to exercise, as well as eat properly.

It's like climbing a mountain on half fuel. I know that work is work, and it's hard, but if you're not taking good care of yourself, you're climbing that mountain on poor fuel, and not enough of it.

Keep snacks with you to help you throughout the day so you won't reach for potato chips or a chocolate bar - which will end up making you feel worse off than when you began.
