Question:
Why do people eat "junk food"?
2009-03-06 10:57:31 UTC
When it's called just that, "junk"?
If it was called "crap", "****", "poop", "disease", "heart attack in a wrapper" food would people still eat it?

Thanks!

They're too lazy and somehow think it's faster to fight the lunch rush and wait in the drive through for 40 minutes than it is to be like me and make udon noodle soup from scratch in 6 minutes.

But what do I know? I give a sh*t about my health and don't make excuses.

I guess if they changed the name to something disgusting, that would put some people off, but "junk" food is usually quick to access and tastes good for a reasonable price.....everything a person would find appealing. Wouldn't it be great if they could invent a type of junk food that was also good for you? I know they've tried and the last effort I tasted was a bit like eating plastic cabbage in a cardboard sandwich. Umm Umm!

Unfortunately for us, evolution has programmed homo sapiens to desire and seek out high-calorie foodstuffs. This made sense when we were digging up roots and catching the occasional rodent to eat; we needed all the calories we could find because the likelihood of a meal's being nutritionally complete was low and the likelihood that it would not be followed closely by another meal was high. It was good evolutionary sense for humans to crave caloric, high-fat foods. Nowadays we don't have the same living situation in most societies, but the biological predisposition can't change as fast as human society so it remains.

Most people now days is just on the go so much, they just pull in and get junk food instead of going home and fixing a good meal.

It tastes better to them, so they tend to eat more of it.....

Junk food, crap, garbage, no matter what they would label it, people would still pull into their fave little drive through and get it.

My one vice for junk food is ****McDonald's Fish Sandwich, no tarter sauce, just fish and cheese....I love them and get one a couple times a week..all other days, I cook at home...or we go out, but not to junk food places LOL

So, buckle up America, and enjoy yourselves, cause from what I hear McD's is going to a healthier meal deal......

Because it tastes good. Junk food is also not called junk food. The various candy bars and potatoe chips go by different names and are stereotyped as junk food.

I don't personally eat "junk" type food anymore, but you have to realize people do because they like the taste.

People eat junk food because they like the way it taste and know its bad for them but get pleasure out of doing things they shouldn't. Natural unprocessed foods are way better for you and can also taste great and make you feel even better.
