i really really want to do a full body cleanse for various personal reasons. i tried researching it on the internet and talking to a few people about it and some say its fabulous others say its unhealthy. i would like to know more true information about this if anyone could help me out by giving me some advice on a good recipe/plan, why or why i shouldnt do it, or anything you think i might find helpful. im open to everything at this point. this is the website that i was planning on using for my cleanse. http://www.homemadebodycleanse.com/master-cleanse/index.htm if someone could tell me if that is a good or bad plan that would be great too. thanks!!

The only full body cleanse I could recommend would involve just your shower and a bar of soap to clean the outside of you. You are not a walking bag of toxins, and no matter what name they give to this kind of stuff, it still is unhealthy. You can't leach true toxins out of a body with anything you could eat or drink. Think about it for a moment. If your body holds on to it, how in the world would something strong enough to leach it out make it past your mouth without destroying your teeth? Chelation to remove things like heavy metals has to be done with chemicals in an IV, while you are in the hospital being closely monitored. You have built in filters already, you call them your liver and kidneys. That's what they do, quite well as a matter of fact. All you have to do to keep yourself healthy is eat a decent diet. Fasting is fine if done for a day or so, for religious or spiritual reasons. It doesn't do anything particularly harmful to you, unless you live in some starving country in Africa. Otherwise, there just are no real benefits to these type of diets. Laxatives are still laxatives, "natural" or not. Diarrhea is still nobody's friend, and most folks will try to avoid getting it. If you need help figuring out what you should eat and how much, try checking out the FDA site. They have loads of information free for the taking. You can also talk to nutritionists and dieticians, and get help with a diet specifically for you. If nothing else, just keep in mind, humans have survived thousands of years without the need to clean our insides. We were designed to eat real food, and get our nutition that way. We have well designed bodies, and should trust they can get on with the business of working without our help. Your part is just to eat right, and trust your body to do the rest.

When you lose weight on a detox "diet," muscle is the first thing to go. It's more expensive for your body to retain than fat is, so when you run low on calories, your body dumps muscle mass and turns it into energy. When you go off the diet, you begin to gain back the pounds - but because you now have less calorie-burning muscle, the weight you gain is fat. By dieting, you've effectively turned muscle into fat.
