I ate like 2500 calories today and I feel so guilty and am worried I'll gain weight. Is it a bad thing to make myself throw up just this once? I won't do it if it's risky...only if it's ok to do as a one time thing. If it's not ok how can I get rid of the excess food quickly? Colon cleanse? Drinking lots of water? If throwing up isn't safe and anyone else has ideas that are not dangerous, tell me.

No. It's never okay. There is never just one time.

I don't know how old you are or what your calorie needs are, but 2500 is probably damn close to what your body needs to maintain your weight anyway. Check out www.caloriecount.com. It will tell you how much your body needs based on your height weight and age. So you're not going to wake up tomorrow and suddenly have gained ten pounds, especially since it takes 3500 excess calories to gain a pound. You do want to drink lots of water especially if you ate stuff that has a lot of sodium, that will flush it out of your body. Tomorrow just return to your normal way of eating. You'll be fine. The secret to weight loss isn't that you're perfect all the time. It's your ability to pick yourself up and get back on track after a lapse that will determine if you will be successful. Everyone has days like this. Some people use it as an excuse to go off the rails and forget about eating healthy.

Well throwing up once isn't too bad physically, but subconsciously you're telling yourself that it's okay to solve your overeating problems like that. If you swear to yourself you'll just do it once, it's not that bad. Some better ideas, though: first off, drinking lots of water does help a little. Try doing weight training workouts, it makes the extra calories go to curves instead of fat and boosts your metabolism, and jogging also helps burn the calories off. Two hours of jogging will get all the excess calories out of your system. Just don't throw up, you won't get fat eating 2500 calories that one time and it's a step towards bulimia.

Unless you ate something poisonous, making yourself throw up is never a good idea. the acid from your stomach can damage your throat, mouth, and teeth.

If you over indulged just one day, it is not a big deal. Most people need 2000 calories per day, so you really only overate by 500 calories which is less than 1/4 lb of fat. If you feel guilty go for a walk. Walking for 30 min will burn off the extra 500 calories you ate today. There are people that eat 10,000 calories per day (michael phelps the swimmer) and are not over weight. It all depends on your activity level.

Please don't resort to making yourself throw up. Throwing up is not good for your body at all. It is very harsh on your esophagus and mouth. But if you really, really must throw up just once, this is how you do it: Take an ordinary toothbrush and take the side without the bristles (so, the back side) and gently poke the back of your throat with it. You are going to want to touch your "punching bag" with the toothbrush. You will gag and throw up. I tried making myself throw up one time a couple of months ago because I felt like I had eaten too much, so I took a toothbrush and poked the back of my throat with it. I did this over the toilet and I threw up. Honestly, I don't think you should do it though. Don't feel guilty for eating! Come on now! You're allowed to eat something unhealthy. You shouldn't feel guilty. Good luck hun

Don't do it. Forcing yourself to regurgitate food can be very risky and you could become addicted. My advice is that you drink a lot of water and go for a walk. Sweetie you are beautiful no matter what your size is. trust me if you feel guilty about eating it us not worth it. you won't gain very much weight because calories only make you gain weight if you dont turn them into energy. so exercise and you'll be fine.

It's not. It's not something to be dealing with, either. I'm an anorexic, so I'm not the eating disordered that throws up, but don't do it. Just work off the calories by exercising, but don't overdo it. Try My Fitness Pal. It's great for that kind of stuff. Hope this helps :)

The thing is, making yourself throw up is not smart. You may think it is only a one time thing, but I promise you it WILL turn into a raging cycle. If I were you, I would work out a lot to burn the calories! Running (not on a treadmill, outside) burns calories fast and also gives you muscles :) don't make yourself puke.

It's up to you, actually, from today you just mention, you only gonna gain 1/7 of a pound, if you do this 7 days in row, you will gain one pound.

You safer and better off just work out longer and hard tomorrow morning then it will go away, take 2 miles run tomorrow.

Work your little heart out. Throwing up once might make you feel like its ok to do it again. Do jumping jacks, jog in place, jumping jacks and jog in place. Do this for maybe 3 minutes or until you do about 100 or 130 jumping jacks

No it isn't. Making yourself throw up is actually very addicting. One of my friends suffered a lot when she started becoming bulimic after just saying she would do it once.

No, it's not okay. Very seldom is it your job to make yourself puke; that's your body's job. Why not just exercise to burn it off? Don't let a "just once" turn into bulimia.
