Before my wife and I were married, she purchased a Total Gym about 4 1/2 years ago. My wife has a hard time folding & unfolding it and I've even pinched my fingers folding it. A great deal of floor space is required for use. It's harder to isolate and give a proper workout to certain muscle groups. The video was only fair and the learning curve takes a while to be moderately proficient. Assembly instructions were poor at best. Some welds were sloppy and it just doesn't seem to be a well manufactured piece of fitness equipment. Obviously the manufacturer agrees since their warranty was something like 90 days to a year, tops, and that's only parts, no labor. In otherwords, even for the price the Total Gym just doesn't compare to a decent home gym and falls under the category of "disposable fitness equipment"...
My suggestion is to take a look at BodyCraft home gyms on our site at http://www.A2ZFit.com/homegyms.htm They have lifetime warranties and are quality built, beating Total Gym hands down. The majority of BodyCraft units are Consumer Guide and Consumer's Digest rated. Currently the Mini-Express is a final closeout deal and a suggestion for you to take a look at. We also have FREE Shipping, No Sales Tax (except in PA), Extra Discounts, Free Gifts, etc. Check it out and let us know if you have any questions! We'd be happy to help you...

We use it in our clinic...very versitile piece of equipment. I have always said that if I were going to get equipment for home use, I'd need two things...a piece of cardio equipment and the total gym.

I had one. It was pretty cool, but you need a bit more space than you would think. It's fun to just work out on it and watch tv.
